Afrikan Roots is an international unique Afro house music band based in Pretoria, the capital city of South Africa with variety of African rooted instruments. The Group has worked with the likes of Shimza, Black Motion, DJEFF, Major Lazer, Soulstar, Homeboyz, HHP, Adil, Team Distant, DJ Buckz, Mizz Dee The Groove, Afro Warriors and more.

The internationally acclaimed and unique house band based has been touring the rest of South Africa to perform and promote at different stages,radio and TV stations. They are also working on two album which will be released both locally and internationally.

The Three-Member band was founded in 2010 by the versatile Percussionist Kenneth Manyemula. The other music maestros in the band are Disc Jockey and Producers Siar Maspila (Katlego Mabasa) and Dj Mosco (Musa Mmotsa). The group also brace itself for creating a platform for musician to start their career through Afrikan Roots.

The foundation phase of Afrikan Roots was layered on endurance encountered in the heartless music industry. The Band has learned valuable lesson from split with Black Motion and emerged with that rare African identity which is the life blood of Afrikan Roots.

After learning between right and wrong through its music journey the group came with a new sound which the coined as “Chubba Chabra”. This phrase represents the formalisation of the band as a professional Afro house music band. Afrikan Roots entered the commercial music market in South Africa with their hit single Akuluwo in 2011\12 and it was followed by the smash hit Ko Morago , which went on to be a song of the on SABC radio stations such as Thobela fm and Munghana Lonene.

The Group was then signed by 999 Records which saw the birth of hit single like Jabula with Cici and Ishmael until they decided to go solo in 2016 to establish their own stable Roots Kooparative.

Since entering the music scene, the group have worked and featured by/on South African Musician such as Dj Ganyani, Dj Sbu, Gloria Bosman, Thebe, Dj Shimza, Adil, Lady Zamar, Zano, Tumelo, SoulStar, Candy Tsamandebele and many more.

Today Afrikan Roots is a house hold name in South Africa and has unique signature sound of Afro House band that performs live music through instruments such as Percussions, African Drums, Guitar, Saxophone, Flute and DJ`s mixed with the common mixer board. Over the years, the group has gained popularity in Countries such as Portugal, Namibia, Mozambique, Angola, Botshwana and Kenya further highlighting their pan Africanist Band for real. The band’s recent highlight was to perform on three stages in London, United Kingdom in December 2017, The have since attracted International agent who is working on their European tour in 2021.

2012- “Conga Chant” and “Better Half ” by Xoli M, these topped charts in the Afro house category by reaching top 10 and were also number 1 and 2 respectively @ Afrodesiamp3. Compiled from the E.P releases “Shikisha and Better Half “

2012 – Collaborated with Dj Sylivi, who was rated as 2nd best in Angola. In addition, created the hit song “Akuluwo with Bebucho Q Kuia.” The song blew up in South Africa but had a huge impact in Angola thus winning 3 international awards in Angola.

2013 – Represented South Africa in one of Luanda’s biggest Music festival which was broadcasted nationally across Angola.

2015 – Participated in the Metro fm Heat wave experience tour in Kimberly

2015 – Signed with 999 music and managed to win the Summer Song of the year for 2015 by the track “Ko Morago” at Thobela FM.

2015: “Ko Morago” Won Song of the year again in Botswana

2016 – On The 8th Day album released

2017 – Performed in three stages in London
